TAN BARK STUDIO is a residential landscape design practice dedicated to creating resilient gardens and practical outdoor spaces for our changing California climate. I emphasize quality materials, contemporary solutions, and a thoughtful approach to modern craft in the landscape.
HISTORY: I first opened my design practice as SPACE Q STUDIO in the Kaka’ako district of Honolulu in 2002 after receiving an MFA in sculpture from UH Manoa. In 2007 I relocated to the Bay Area and continued designing, building, and installing residential landscape projects. In 2025 I renamed my practice TAN BARK STUDIO in honor of TAKO … “A Dog Supreme.”
